We were recently onsite at Mid Counties Co-op, Queensway, Banbury, to remove 12 existing cases and install 10 new ones. On paper, a straightforward installation. In reality, getting the new cases into the store presented a significant access challenge.
Overcoming restricted access
To avoid removing sections of the front entrance, the cases had to be brought into the store through the rear service yard and warehouse.
With cases measuring 3,750mm and limited access throughout the route, there was very little room for manoeuvre. The installation required careful planning, coordination and some practical problem-solving on the day.
Adapting to the site
Working alongside main contractor EMERGENCY SECURITY SERVICES (SWINDON) LIMITED and case fitters ARROW INSTALLATIONS LTD, the Pure Cold team worked collaboratively to find a safe and efficient solution.
Sections of walls were carefully moved and areas above doorways were removed to provide the additional height and swing required to manoeuvre the cases into position.
By adapting to the conditions on site and working closely as a team, the installation was completed while keeping disruption and delays to an absolute minimum.
Planning for future reuse
As part of the project, two of the existing cases were carefully removed and retained for storage.
This gives Mid Counties Co-op the potential to reuse the equipment at another store within their estate, helping to maximise the value of the existing assets.
The result: 10 new cases installed. 12 cases removed. 2 cases retained for potential future reuse.
A challenging access issue overcome through careful planning, collaboration and practical problem-solving, delivering the job safely and efficiently with minimal disruption.
