Impact EV integral fridge & Icon integral freezer

In 2024, Little Waitrose in Hampton Hill required new refrigeration that could deliver to their standards in both efficiency and performance.

The site features a compact footprint, limited access routes and external constraints due to their air-conditioning plant. These factors made it a more complex installation environment.

Pure Cold partnered with Waitrose to supply Impact EV chilled multidecks and an Icon integral freezer. Both were selected specifically to avoid external pipework and also for their efficiency, reliability and ability to operate effectively in smaller layouts.

The Challenge

The Hampton Hill installation presented several challenges:

  • Very limited access, requiring careful manoeuvring of equipment
  • Compact floor space, requiring precise positioning to maintain smooth store flow
  • External and planning restrictions, with no option to install a remote condenser
  • Rapid installation, to not interfere with trading hours

Pure Cold worked closely with Waitrose to plan a tailored installation: 

  • Detailed site surveys to ensure the Impact EV and Icon cases could be brought through limited access routes without major disruption
  • Adoption of the Integral refrigeration solution to eliminate the need for external plant, pipe runs or building modifications
  • Phased delivery and positioning, avoiding disruption to customers and maintaining operational safety
  • Precise case alignment to keep the compact layout clean and consistent with Waitrose standards

Every step was designed to deliver high-performance refrigeration without compromising the store’s layout or customer experience.
